An Introduction to Language of Dance

10am - 4pm

This day will offer an opportunity to practically experience the Language of Dance (LOD) approach to movement exploration. The morning will include a warm-up, exploration of the ‘Movement Alphabet’ and creative activities. It will demonstrate how LOD can be used as a tool in the teaching of movement analysis and choreography.

The afternoon will focus on how LOD can be applied to other teaching contexts. There will be short practical sessions demonstrating its use when teaching special educational needs students and primary school children. The final session of the day will give participants the opportunity to find out about setting up the BTEC in Language of Dance Motif Notation (Level 1) course as well as how LOD can be applied to teaching GCSE and A Level Dance.
