We have developed the Level 1 Award in Language of Dance® Movement Exploration, an accessible dance award that we specifically designed to be achievable by students of all abilities, including those with SEN and physical disabilities and that has been accredited by the national awarding organisation NCFE.
The Level 1 Award gives students the chance to experience, explore and create movement while working within their own ability level. The Award focuses on the exploration of the basic elements of movement and on the use of symbols as a starting point for creativity, rather than on the individual’s ability to perform dance movements as demonstrated by the tutor.
Students who successfully complete the Level 1 and wish to develop their Language of Dance learning further can move on to the Level 2 Award in Language of Dance® Motif Notation, which includes more concepts, timing and notation on a staff.
On the occasion of our charity’s 50th anniversary and with the generous support of the Garfield Weston Foundation, we are able to offer 50 teachers across the UK the opportunity to train free of charge to deliver the Level 1 Award to their students.
The training places for acedemic year 2018/2019 are now filled. Please CONTACT US to register your interest in future teacher training opportunities.
