We have developed the Level 1 Award in Language of Dance® Movement Exploration, an accessible dance award that we specifically designed to be achievable by students of all abilities, including those with SEN and physical disabilities and that has been accredited by the national awarding organisation NCFE.
The Level 1 Award gives students the chance to experience, explore and create movement while working within their own ability level. The Award focuses on the exploration of the basic elements of movement and on the use of symbols as a starting point for creativity, rather than on the individual’s ability to perform dance movements as demonstrated by the tutor.
Students who successfully complete the Level 1 and wish to develop their Language of Dance learning further can move on to the Level 2 Award in Language of Dance® Motif Notation, which includes more concepts, timing and notation on a staff.
On the occasion of our charity’s 50th anniversary and with the generous support of the Garfield Weston Foundation, we are able to offer 50 teachers across the UK the opportunity to train free of charge to deliver the Level 1 Award to their students.
Each training course consists of four days, which will take place on the following dates:
Day 1 January 16th London
Day 1 February 18thBradford
Day 2 February 6th London
Day 2 February 19th Bradford
Day 3 March 6th 2019 London
Day 3 March 25th Bradford
Day 4 April 3rd 2019 London
Day 4 March 26th Bradford
Each teacher is required to attend Day 1, Day 2, Day 3 and Day 4, but these can be attended in different locations if more convenient (for example, Day 1 and Day 2 in London and Day 3 and Day 4 in Bradford, etc).
