The Language of Dance® Centre UK, based in the London borough of Tower Hamlets, was established in 1967 by Dr Ann Hutchinson Guest and registered as a charity (Language of Dance Trust, charity no. 281268) in 1980. We deliver dance tuition in primary, secondary and special educational needs schools, as well as CPD training courses and resources for teachers.

Our mission is to make creative movement and dance experience available to people of all ages, genders, cultural background and abilities, through the use of the inclusive Language of Dance teaching method.

The Language of Dance Trust supports the work of the Language of Dance Centre and conversely the Language of Dance Centre operates under the auspices of the Language of Dance Trust.

The aims of the LODC are:

  • To offer activities for children and young people with a specific aim to target socio-economic underprivileged areas and those with disabilities.
  • To offer an accredited Award in Language of Dance that is accessible to young people of all abilities and particularly reaching those who may otherwise not have the opportunity to gain an award in dance.
  • To provide professional development courses and resources for teachers, dance practitioners and sports professionals and members of the public.
  • To produce and publish educational resources and books on the Language of Dance approach.
